Class 04IP04

Image:04cipday.jpg

Known widely amongst their level as the ‘mugger’ class, 04IP04 constantly lived up to its name by topping the level in tests and exams, regardless of subject. During the first two years, when lessons were held in the TC block, other classes were amazed to find that the class’ civics and lessons venue (TC35) emptied immediately after classes were over; students from other classes often stay back after school hours in their allocated classrooms. Students came to the conclusion that the class emptied so quickly, because the 04IP04-ers would rush home everyday to do some more ‘mugging’.

While this label was initially treated with reluctance and opposition, it has since stuck and become somewhat of a class identity. The class members have accepted it and most of the class cheers seem to revolve around this concept of ‘mugging’.

The members of 04IP04 also display a rather worrying ability to play Bridge, anytime anywhere. Being right in the middle of an Aerius house session does not quench their burning passion for this game, and indeed, the only times when 04 was actually spotted in their classroom after school hours was when there were large-scale Bridge/Daidee battles being waged.

Hanging Out

As expected, the class rarely gets to meet up outside of school. This can be attributed to the fact that each and every one of them represents the school in its highly desperate quest to end the now eleven-year drought (see President's Scholar). That said however, class outings organized within the curricular framework can be fun. In a strange, quirky way.

However, the class does make an effort to take time off their hectic all-rounded all-achieving all-mugging all-EXCO-ing in order to rendezvous outside the college cloister. They have grown up dinners at renowned establishments and certainly do not make great fools out of themselves by attracting huge crowds who expect acrobatic performances on the pavement when they assemble to do something ostensibly simple, such as take a class photo.

Whenever they go out together, IP04 stands out brightly. No, not because they are the shining stars of the college or whatever crap (sic) akin to that. Rather, most of the class is reduced to annoyingly prodigious lightbulbs because within the molecule that is the class, there are some atoms that simply bond better together.

Class Outing to Swensen's

The newlyweds!

Held on the 21st of January at 6pm, 04IP04 managed to achieve FULL ATTENDANCE - every single class member turned up for the class outing. Not one stayed at home to mug :D This is an impressive feat as it is believed that no class has managed to achieve this before. (if otherwise, please feel free to change)

This was also a special night for two of the boys in 04IP04. Please refer to photo on right: the newlyweds! This now brings the total male population of 04IP04 to: ZERO.

Past Activities

Or rather, proposed CCAs that never took off.

Royal Slackers' Club (RSC)

  • What: A group of slackers who refuse to run the first 2 rounds of warm-up during PE. They would rather walk, or pretend to run by moving their arms and legs rapidly.
  • When: During every PE lesson.
  • Who: All the girls of 04IP04.

First established in the beginning of 2004, the RSC grew rapidly within the short span of one week. Its membership grew from a group of 4 to 6 girls, to the entire female population of 04IP04. Sadly, the six males never even considered joining.

However, towards November 2004, the PE teachers put their foot down, forcing every member to put in their best during the lesson ("RUN! I'M WATCHING YOU!") and thus the club was dissolved.

Captain's Ball

  • What: A club dedicated to playing Captain's Ball and nothing else.
  • When: During every PE lesson that is NOT used to do training for NAPFA.
  • Who: All 04IP04 students.

Seeing as PE lessons in the first half of the year are largely used for NAPFA training (conditioning, running, and more running) the PE teachers often let students take it free and easy for PE lessons in the month of July and onwards.

As such, THE sport/game for 04IP04 is Captain's Ball. The class' love for this game first started in 2004 and was later shown in an inter-class Captain's Ball competition, where the class sent in a team that literally owned the seniors in the first round.

A Captain's Ball CCA was proposed to be set up - sadly, it never took off full time. Reasons are unknown.

Notable People

In small class of 04IP04, there are a few individuals who stand out with their talents and charisma. These people have contributed greatly to the overall development and maturation of the class.

Lim Pei Rong

According to various reliable sources, this particular student was the main ringleader that intitiated the well-known Bridge/Daidee battles. She is known for her superior skill and enthusiastic game-play.

In the fledgling IP1 and IP2 years, people could be regularly be seen approaching her for a deck of cards. She would almost always produce one from the deep recesses of her bag and her reliabillity as a pack-of-cards providern is unrivaled.

She also pioneered the techniques to not getting caught at the highly frowned upon activity of having fun.

The Great Wall of China

This group of people represented the back row of 04IP04 during the year 2005 and their reputation precedes them. The people include, Charmaine Miranda, Tan Wei Jun, Hauw Junying, Adrianni, Alessandria Goh, Lim Pei Rong, Chang Yuen Yi, Toh Shiqi and Johanna Chin.

They sat in the last row of tables in the class and were often seen slacking and/or sleeping. The Great Wall of China was often attacked by eager teachers but its strength and resilience was proved when it fended off vicious enemies for a whole year. No doubt the Great Wall would still be standing today if not for the unfortunate displacement of the class to an alternative venue.

They were also known as The Last Line of Defence.

Concordis 04IP04

Due to the reshuffling of class of 04IP04 (the reason given being 'timetabling issues'; which however, has not stopped speculation or conspiracy theories) for the entire IP cohort in 2005, the population did undergo radical changes. Here is a list of some of the past and present (post 2005 reshuffling) members of this class:
